It also involves:<\/p><ul><li>clinical assessment and judgement<\/li><li>documentation and monitoring<\/li><li>referral when a presentation is outside scope<\/li><li>collaboration with other healthcare professionals<\/li><li>ongoing professional development.<\/li><\/ul><p>Independent prescribers are already an important and growing part of the UK healthcare workforce. The Nuffield Trust reports that nearly 100,000 independent prescribers were recorded in the UK as of April 2025. The information covers community, primary care, health and justice, hospital, mental health trust and ICB-employed pharmacists.<\/p><p>The registration and commissioning position may differ between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
